The Doctor is Out
Well I’m going away to sunny British Columbia for a month, so I feel obligated to say I probably won’t post much, if anything, from now until I get back. Of course it seems silly to say that, considering that I haven’t posted much at all very recently. I’ve ended up expending all of my writing energy on emails; I’ve been having political discussions with one of my professors from college, and writing letters to my Japanese penpals to keep my language skills up to snuff.
I think the political discussions are having the biggest impact on my posting though. Ever since taking Dr. Weeks’ class, I’ve had less political rants to post here. And it’s not because I’m having less political thought; actually, I’m having more, if any… but my usual outlet — the long rants that I used to post here — I’m actually exchanging ideas. It’s quite fun. I feel a little bad sometimes, because it’s good writing and it’s just getting lost. Maybe one day I’ll re-edit them into essays and post them online. But for now, they stay as email. Besides, I don’t think anyone really enjoyed reading my political ranting and venting.
So I go to Vancouver tomorrow! Woohoo! I’m really excited (and nervous to stay with her family for a month)… but the excitement overrules by far. ^_^ So… sayounara for now!
Art Update
I haven’t posted any art in a while because I’ve been working on a hodgepodge of things… one is a portrait, one is another chicken (cowboy this time), some marker sketches for practice, and now I’ve started working on a couple of jobs. I figure it’s time to show some of the work I’ve been doing, so here it is. I’m not posting the work I’m doing for jobs right now, just for copyright reasons. I’m pretty sure it’s legal actually, but while I’m still working on the project I may as well leave the pictures be and post them later.
The first picture is another Journey to the West image, this time painted instead of digital. Monkey is reading a sutra with the secret of eternal life on it.
The second two, a bugbear and a gnome, are just fantasy sketches I did to show one of my employers.
The marker portrait is just a sketch with markers, another test basically since I’m still trying to get the hang of color markers.
The final one is a marker sketch of my old neighbor who wants me to do a portrait of her. The color’s all wrong, the drawing isn’t great, and I’ve changed the image considerably since then… but I figured I’d post the sketch anyway just to have something to show.
