Something to Say

I haven’t really said much recently. There was a trail of ants on my computer desk for about 10 days that made it really hard to use the computer.

The May Fair was this weekend and it was a total bomb… I’m in so much debt that I’m pretty worried about my money situation, and the fact that nobody bought any of my paintings kinda makes me pretty depressed. On the other hand, I did recieve lots of positive feedback, so it’s not entirely depressing. Hopefully my luck will change in the future (I say that a lot, don’t I?).

Here’s some good news: I got a new job doing web design at UPenn. I’ll be redesigning the PoliSci department’s webpage! Whee! And on top of that, I’ve redesigned the new JASGP website, and I’ll be adding a lot more to it this summer.

There’s not much more to say that that, so I’ll post this wonderful quote from the Kids in the Hall:

The difficult thing about being a mass murderer isn’t the murdering part, its the mass part. Its the pace you’ve gotta keep up, the sheer volume of murdering. Cause the funny thing about killing- after the first time you’ve killed, the second time is easy. The third time you start to get cocky so you’ve gotta be careful, you gotta stay humble or you’re likely to make mistakes. And about the 7th time you start to feel like you are in rut, wanna start getting artistic with it. Cut off the middle toe of each of your victims so you’ll be known as the “middle toe murderer”. But by that point, I don’t know, I think that’s show boating. You gotta ask yourself, who am I doing this for? Myself or the Press? And round about the 20th murder, you’re likely to be sick of the whole thing. Sometimes I don’t even wanna LOOK at another corpse. I feel like if I even SEE a chainsaw, I’ll scream. Its like the other day- I had just finished ending a human life in a senseless act of violence, when I ran into this old friend from high school and he says, “Hey! What’cha been doing?” and I think to myself, what HAVE I been doing?? What am I doing with my life? Where’s this leading? Am I gonna be doing this at 50?! Sometimes I think I really should go back to college.

Holy Craaaaap!!!

I know I promised I’d write about my trip to Vancouver, and I’ve been slacking off… so I’m going to post something now before I put it off indefinitely. Unfortunately it’s kind of late so I probably won’t give it the description it deserves… (Sorry, Frances! #-_-#;;)

Contests

I’ve just completed Google’s DaVinci Quest puzzle set… it was pretty fun except for those damn dirt smudge puzzles. Oy! I’m sure tons of people entered, so maybe I’ll get lucky and win one of those Cryptex thingies.

In a much cooler note, BJ and Tyler made it to the final 3 on the Amazing Race tonight! Holy crap! They’re only one week away from winning a million dollars! To win tonight they each had to eat a humongous bowl of grasshoppers… but they managed to keep most of them down I think. Next week’s race takes them all over the whole world, and I know there’s a stop in Japan so they’ll do well in that section (Tyler speaks Japanese, so that’s no problem). I’m knocking on my wooden crossed rabbit fingers!

I haven’t written anything in a while because my blog software was broken.

I’ve been experimenting with different ways to integrate my blog into the main part of my website, for aesthetic reasons, instead of having this separate blog page with a different format and theme. I thought I had found a solution with JD-Wordpress, a Joomla component, but after tons of trouble setting it up and finally getting it right, I hit another wall when it wouldn’t let me write new posts… and the support for it wasn’t very responsive to say the least. (Not that I should really be criticizing someone who is writing a piece of free software.

Anyway, you might have seen the format I wanted to use if you visited my website in the past couple of weeks. But now it’s back to the old way, since I need to be able to write in my blog.

I spent the last 2 weeks in Vancouver visiting Frances, so I’ll write an update about that in a day or two… right now I’m getting used to being back home, catching up on lost time, and getting ready for work in the morning. More later…
