Scene 11 – Exterior, ship, night

Joeth reaches the anchor chain faster than he's ever swam before, and climbs up onto the deck. The sounds of combat combined with the black and red bloodstains covering the slick deck make it a fearful sight. A sea devil and Mordechai are rolling about on the floor fighting near Joeth's position. The sea devil has Mordechai over powered, and is slashing at his face and neck with its razor-sharp retractable claws. The monster makes a horrible gurgling noise and vomits salt water all over Mordechai's face, staring with icy hatred in its oily black eyes.
Mordechai looks up from underneath the monster with shock. “Joeth?!” The sea devil snorts and looks over his shoulder, and at the same instant Joeth lunges forward, screaming with hatred and slashes open the sahuagin's throat spraying both his and the monster's blood in the direction of the slash. Mordechai grabs on to Joeth to help himself up. “Joeth, me boy!” he says. “I thought you had left us.” Joeth looks back at Mordechai, with cold determination in his eyes and replies, “I'm still a member of this crew."
Mordechai picks up his saber and stabs the sea devil to make sure that it's dead. Joeth runs over to the next sea monster who is wrestling with Coran. Joeth grabs one of its head fins and plunges the dagger into its back, pulling it to the ground and spitting on its corpse. Coran thanks Joeth and goes to help one of his shipmates. Joeth and Mordechai grab the nearest sea devil and knock it to the deck. They kick it in the side over and over again until it slides under the rail and falls with broken bones back into the water. The tides of the battle turn quickly in the men's favor. The sahuagin are now fighting for their lives.
As the other men deal with four of the sahuagin, Joeth goes face to face with one of the remaining five monsters, dagger in hand and pure loyalty written all over his face. The sea devil bares its claws and grins a twisted smile full of hundredes of needle-like teeth. Joeth duels back and forth across the ship with the monster, overpowering it with his sheer ferocity. Finally, Joeth pins the creature against the ship's mast and plunges the dagger into where the creature's heart should be. The monster stops, stunned for a moment, and Joeth lets his guard down. As Joeth tries to pull the blade out of the monster's torso, it snarles and lunges at his face. Joeth jerks backwards far enough to save his life, but the creature rakes him clear across the face, creating four deep gashes, and then severs Joeth's ear from his head. Brislith, covered in wounds, rushes forward and gives an uppercut to the sahuagin. The beast spits a mouthful of needle-like teeth onto the deck and bares its claws. The monster leaps forward and makes to strike at Brislith's face. Brislith raises his weapon up into the air to block, but the sahuagin suddenly extends it footclaws and lashes out at Brislith's unprotected stomach. Brislith's eyes open wide in shock as he feels hot blood pouring from a mortal wound. As he looks down at the gash, the sahuagin slashes with its hand across Brislith's throat and opens its mouth to rip into Brislith's face. The beast snaps forward at Brislith's face, but is suddenly driven backwards. Joeth, screaming full of rage, barrels into the creature and slams it full-force into the mainmast. The sea devil slumps down to the deck, stunned from the blow, blood flowing from the dagger wound in its chest. Joeth, exhausted from rage, picks himself up to strike again. The monster is only stunned for a moment. It digs its claws into the ship, peeling up curls of wood as it does, and slides up the mainmast back onto its feet. As it stands, Mordechai walks up and delivers a pistol shot into the creature's head at point blank range. The force of the shot sends the creature to the edge of the ship and over the rail.
